The 24-year-old hasn’t featured in the Eredivisie so far this season, but two weeks ago he led PSV to victory over SDC Putten in the KNVB Cup with two goals and an assist.

Speaking to PSV TV, Maher said he is feeling strong at the moment, “I’ve become more eager. I’m older and wiser.

Maher spent last season on loan with Osmanlispor and admitted he wanted to leave PSV in the summer, but didn’t get the right offer, “I wanted to go if there was a good club where I could play a lot, also at the position I wanted to play. There were a few clubs out of the big leagues, but it was a matter of what the plans were. ”

PSV signed Maher for €8 million from AZ in 2013 and he admitted his time in Eindhoven hasn’t gone to plan, but thinks there is still a chance to succeed, “Yes, I expected it differently. I also wanted to succeed here. There is still a chance, so we’ll just wait. ”

If coach Phillip Cocu doesn’t give him an opportunity, Maher admits a January departure is an option, “It’s up to me to do my best until December, give everything, and then we’ll see.”
