After injuries to Miquel Nelom and Ridgeciano Haps, the 18-year-old was selected in the starting eleven to become the youngest player to represent the club in the Champions League. The youngster looked more than comfortable in his debut that ended in a 2-1 victory.

The morning after, Malacia spoke to Feyenoord’s website, “You see boys fall away and then you know that there might be a chance for you. Then you hear from the trainer that you can start, in the Champions League, and we win. Fantastic, it could not have been nicer. ”

On whether he was nervous before his debut, Malacia added, “Beforehand, I did the same as always: listening to music quietly in my room. I had no tension at all. During the match I tried to get in by simply playing, then I tried to find my turn. The beginning was reasonable, then I picked it up well and think that it went very well. The coach told me that I had to do my own thing, play with guts. I’ve tried that.

“I woke up well this morning, with a nice feeling. On the way to the club I really realized how special it was. A nice moment. The coach was very satisfied, he also told me personally afterwards. Now I have to continue, keep working hard, train well and then we will see what happens.”
