AC Milan won’t have to pay Chelsea a single Euro for the season long loan of Dutch midfielder Marco van Ginkel.

The Italian giants agreed to pay Chelsea €1 million for the former Vitesse midfielder’s loan, with the price halving if Van Ginkel made 20 appearances during the season.
However Tuttosport are reporting that the loan deal will now be free after injuries have restricted the Dutchman to only five Serie A appearances. The 22-year-old has suffered two separate ankle injuries during his time in Milan, while coach Filipo Inzaghi has usually left Van Ginkel on the bench when he has been fit.
Van Ginkel was one of Netherlands biggest talents when he left Vitesse for Chelsea in 2013, but an anterior cruciate ligament injury ruined his first season in England, and led to his loan deal to AC Milan this season. A season in Italy was meant to rekindle the Dutch internationals form, but it has arguably stalled his development further, and although he will return to Chelsea this summer, another loan deal looks inevitable.
