The midfielder was considered one of the most talented youngsters in Europe when he swapped AZ for PSV Eindhoven in 2013, but his move to the Philips Stadion hasn’t worked. Last summer, Maher was deemed surplus to requirements by Phillip Cocu and joined Turkish side Osmanlispor on loan.

AZ fanpage asked Maher about his future and whether a return to AZ Alkmaar was possible this summer. He responded, “Of course, AZ is a club in my heart. I grew up there, but I just need to think carefully about the next step.”

Staying at Osmanlispor permanently is also an option, “Here I play now they want to keep me, for that matter, it is wait and see.”

Maher has played 29 times for AZ this season, scoring twice.
