Ajax missed the chance to go top of the Eredivisie as they were held to a 1-1 draw by ADO Den Haag.

kramer sdkfWith PSV not playing this weekend Ajax knew a win would send them above their Eindhoven rivals, and after eight minutes Davy Klaassen smashed Arkadiusz Milik’s knock down past Martin Hansen to give the champions the perfect start.

Ajax continued to dominate possession for the rest of the first half without creating any real chances, while ADO Den Haag took until the 56th minute to create a real chance, but Jasper Cillessen pulled off a good save to deny Mike van Duinen’s header.

Kishna could have sealed the win for Ajax but sent two good chances wide of the goal, while Ricardo van Rhijn’s free kick deflected over and Lasse Schone’s volley was also off target.

Ajax were then made to rue their missed chances as league top scorer Michiel Kramer fired in his tenth of the season after being picked out by Roland Alberg in the 85th minute. Defender Mike van der Hoon nearly found the winner for Ajax but he couldn’t control the ball properly at the back post following a corner, and although Giovanni Zuiverloon was shown red late on ADO Den Haag held on for a point.

Ajax stay second in the league and ADO Den Haag remain 15th.
