This match was originally meant to be played last month but due to a waterlogged pitch the game had to be rescheduled to this afternoon.
The home side started brightly with Michiel Kramer netting after only seven minutes, as the tall striker was alert at the back post to finish impressively pastĀ Piet Velthuizen.
Vitesse tried to get back into the game, with Mike Havenaar hitting the post after a good past from Davy Propper, before Havenaar stumbled over the ball when only a few yards out.
In the second half, Vitesse continued to control the ball, and equalised after the hour mark, as Davy Propper finished nicely from 16 yards.
The parity only lasted five minutes as Mathias Gehrt netted with a fine strike that gave Velthuizen no chance, and handed ADO Den Haag only their second win of the season.
They remain in the bottom three, but will be buoyed by a much improved performance, while Vitesse will be frustrated by their missed first half opportunities which could have seen them go top.
