Vitesse Arnhem twice led against ADO Den Haag but had to settle for a 2-2 draw in the Hague.

schaken adoThe visitors had the lead after only seven minutes with Sheran Yeini taking a long ball from Maikel van der Werff on the chest before firing past Martin Hansen.

However back came ADO Den Haag and after Eloy Room denied both Mike Havenaar and Kenji Gorre, Ruben Schaken finally leveled the scores just after the half hour mark. The winger found the bottom corner with a low strike.

Despite being second best for most of the first half Vitesse went into the break ahead with Kelvin Leerdam heading Lewis Baker’s free kick past Hansen.

Six minutes into the second half Leerdam and Havenaar were involved in an off the ball scuffle and after the ADO Den Haag striker fell to the ground, referee Bas Nijhuis pointed to the spot. Timothy Derijck slotted in the spot kick to level the scores for the home side.

Derdijk then came close to netting the winner before the end with a header that was just kept out by Room’s legs. The draw sees Vitesse sit 6th while ADO Den Haag remain 14th.
