The former ADO Den Haag midfielder will replace Zeljko Petrovic, who was relieved of his duties on Tuesday after a disappointing start to the campaign.

Groenendijk started his coaching career with amateurs VV Katwijk, before spells in charge of Willem II, Den Bosch and Jong Ajax. Last year he had a short spell in charge of Excelsior and led the Rotterdammers to a 15th place finish before leaving in the summer.

The 52-year-old will now be tasked with keeping ADO Den Haag in the Eredivisie. They currently sit 16th.
