ADO Den Haag headed to Venlo on the back of three straight defeats, but in the third minute they had the lead. Roy Gemli handled the ball and Shaquille Pinas scored the resulting penalty.
The visitors joy was short-lived as a minute later, Georgios Giakoumakis equalised with a bicycle kick. It was the Greek forwards fourth goal of the campaign already.
After a frantic opening the game settled, and the next big chance came just before half time when VVV goalkeeper Thorsten Kirschbaum had to deny Amar Catic with his feet.
The second half was a dull affair and the game seemed to be heading for a 1-1 draw until the last second when David Philipp netted the winning goal for ADO Den Haag.
It’s a first win of the campaign for ADO Den Haag, while VVV remains on four points.
