The hosts went into the game looking to bounce back after their 5-2 loss to PSV Eindhoven last weekend and they dominated from the start. Lennart Thye came within inches of opening the scoring on six minutes but his shot came off both posts before rebounding to safety.
Vito van Crooy, Thy and Clint Leemans all went close for VVV before the break but they couldn’t break the deadlock, while at the other end ADO Den Haag barely threatened, except for one Melvyn Lorenzen effort.
ADO goalkeeper Robert Zwinkels prevented Torino Hunte tapping in the opener early in the second half, but after that chance VVV struggled and the visitors took control. Eventually, in the 66th minute, Erik Falkenburg brilliantly half-volleyed Tyronne Ebuehi’s cross past Lars Unnerstall.
VVV couldn’t find an equaliser before the end and in the 92nd minute, Bjørn Johnsen fired in another for ADO Den Haag to seal their victory. ADO rise up to ninth, while VVV are 10th.
