Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven had to settle for a 3-3 draw at ADO Den Haag.

The home side went into the game still looking to book a place in the European play-offs. For PSV, the title was already sealed, but Phillip Cocu gave Albert Gudmundsson and Pablo Rosario the chance to impress from the start, while Steven Bergwijn played through the middle in place of the injured Luuk de Jong.

The champions began brightly and took the lead after only eleven minutes, with Hirving Lozano heading in a Gaston Pereiro cross. However, the lead only lasted five minutes before Bjorn Johnsen levelled for the hosts. PSV were then dealt a blow as Lozano went off injured to be replaced by Donyell Malen.

On 27 minutes, Nicolas Isimat-Mirin was adjudged to have pulled down Johnsen and Nasser El Khayati slotted the penalty kick past Jeroen Zoet to give ADO Den Haag the lead.

PSV should have equalised before the break when Gudmundsson raced through on goal but the forward couldn’t beat ADO goalkeeper Indy Groothuizen. Before the hour mark the equaliser did come with Pereiro nodding in from close range after a corner reached the back post.

After the equaliser, PSV dominated and went close through Pereiro and Bergwijn, but in the 72nd minute, Johnsen netted his second of the game to put ADO Den Haag back in front. Pereiro ensured a point for the visitors before the end with a fierce strike that nestled in the bottom corner.

With the point, ADO Den Haag move level with PEC Zwolle in eighth spot but remain out of the playoffs on goal difference.
