Dick Advocaat is the new head coach of Feyenoord on a deal until the end of the season.

On Monday, Jaap Stam stood down with the club sitting 12th in the Eredivisie with only three league wins all season.

Feyenoord wanted an experienced head coach to take over until the end of the campaign and have turned to Advocaat. The 72-year-old signs a deal until the end of the season and will be assisted by Cor Pot and John de Wolf.

This is the third interim job for Advocaat in the last two years with the former Netherlands coach going down with Sparta Rotterdam before he coached Utrecht until the end of last season.

Advocaat will take charge of Feyenoord for the first time on Sunday when they face VVV Venlo before they clash with Young Boys in a must-win Europa league clash.

Jean-Paul van Gastel, Denny Landzaat and Roy Makaay have all been told they have no future with their roles at the club.
