Dick Advocaat is not impressed with Jaap Stam’s statement that he was behind Feyenoord’s success.

Stam left Feyenoord after only a few months in charge and after the new year, Advocaat took charge and the club remained unbeaten in the league until the end of the season.

Speaking to Trouw earlier this week, Stam stated he was behind the success, “I spent four months working with those players. It is easy for the next trainer to continue. At that time, the players were fit enough to play many matches, the team had received quality. It was a perfect moment for Dick.”

Speaking to Voetbal International, Advocaat was not amused, “Jaap Stam has made one good decision at Feyenoord and that is by leaving the club.”

Stam has since responded to that comment, “What Dick says is correct, it was also a good decision. But the point is, what I have said is absolutely not meant personally. Everyone who knows me knows that I have a lot of respect for what Dick has done as a trainer. I was concerned with the image that has emerged. As if nothing has been done before Dick at Feyenoord. The point is that when he came, the players were a bit fitter and the entry time was good. That’s all. I wish Dick all the success with Feyenoord. ”
