Utrecht has confirmed that an agreement has been reached for Dick Advocaat to become their new head coach.

Utrecht sacked Jean-Paul de Jong on the 4th of September and they have decided that Advocaat is the man to replace him.

The 70-year-old has an oral agreement to take over the Domstedelingen and will have Zeljko Petrovic as his assistant.

Advocaat spent a season with Utrecht as a player but now returns for his first spell with the club as a coach. His last job was with Sparta Rotterdam, who he couldn’t prevent from being relegated last season.

The former Netherlands, Rangers, Sunderland, Russia, Zenit st Petersburg, AZ, PS, South Korea, and Fenerbahce boss, among others, will not be on the bench for Utrecht’s game with Emmen this weekend.
