The winger has found game time at the Premier League club hard to come by since Jose Mourinho took over and he has been left out of the squad for Manchester United’s tie with Advocaat on Thursday.
Advocaat, who worked with Memphis at PSV Eindhoven and the Dutch national team believes the 22-year-old can still become a top player but needs to be playing first team football.
He said, “The potential is there for him to be a good player. You cannot lose that, he has the quality to be a top player.
“But the problem for him is that there are so many quality players in that squad, so for himself, it is important to start playing regularly at the age he is at.
“Otherwise, maybe he has to find another solution because he is too good to sit on the bench.”
