Ibrahim Afellay is close to making his comeback for Stoke City after recovering from a cruciate ligament injury.

afellay stoeThe Dutch international midfielder suffered the knee injury last April in a training incident and has spent six months on the sidelines.

However, the thirty-year-old is now close to making his comeback with coach Mark Hughes confirming on Friday that Afellay had returned to the club’s training ground.

Hughes told the Stoke City official website, “He has worked very hard and was fit enough to join the group. He made conditional steps and his left knee has become stronger, “
