afellay cAfellay hasn’t appeared on a pitch since the 0-0 draw between Netherlands and Germany back in November 2012, but has been named in Barcelona’s squad to face Malaga.

The midfielder last played for Barcelona in May 2012, before being loaned out to Bundesliga side Schalke, where he made 15 appearances, scoring four goals before an muscle injury cut the loan short.

The 27-year-old was back under the knife five months ago to sort a thigh injury, but now appears to be fully fit, and ready to stake a claim for a place in next summers World Cup.

A move away from the Nou Camp this month has been rumoured in order for Afellay to gain first team action, but Barcelona coach Gerardo Martino wants to keep the Dutch international.

Since moving to Barcelona from PSV in 2011, Afellay has only made 33 appearances for the club, with 28 of those coming in his first season with the club.
