Tottenham Hotspur are looking for a new manager after the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas earlier in the week, due to recent poor results including the 5-0 thrashing to Liverpool at the weekend.
Dutchman De Boer has been installed as one of the favourites to take over, but his agent Guido Albers has told Voetbal International that the 43-year-old is fully concentrating on Ajax.
He said, “Through various channels it has become clear to me that Spurs are interested, but the club has not approached Ajax. So for us there is not much to say about it. Frank focuses entirely on Ajax.”
De Boer’s stock has risen steadily since taking over Ajax from ex-Spurs coach Martin Jol back in 2010, leading the Amsterdam club to three consecutive Eredivisie titles.
So far this season, Ajax have recovered from a slow start, and currently sit 2nd in the league, while they only narrowly missed out on a place in the Champions League knockout stages.
Tottenham’s interest in the ex-Barcelona, Ajax, and Rangers star will probably be unsuccessful, with De Boer signing a new four-year-deal with the club in the summer.
The chance to become the first coach ever to lead Ajax to four consecutive Eredivisie titles will also play a huge part in De Boer’s mind, especially with the club in great form, and closing on current leaders Vitesse.
De Boer stated earlier in the season that his dream was to manage Barcelona in the future, but he still had more to learn with Ajax. It could be a case of right man, wrong time for Tottenham.
