The Premier League side reportedly had two bids rejected for Jorgensen, who eventually remained in Rotterdam.
Speaking to Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, Jorgensen’s agent Mikkel Nissen confirmed that Newcastle worked hard to sign Jorgensen, who could make the move to England in the summer.
He said, “I can confirm that Newcastle specifically wanted to have him and did a lot to make it successful. There were also other Premier League clubs in play, but Newcastle was the most daring.
“But Feyenoord was against it. They just didn’t want to sell him in this transfer window and will look at it this summer.”
On a summer move he added, “But now he’s ready to take next step. It’s always a balance to find the right time to go on, but I think we’ll find a solution this summer. Feyenoord has also had time to look for a replacement.”
