On 12 minutes Ajax were awarded a penalty for a foul on Siem de Jong, and Lasse Schone sent Kristoffer Nordfeldt the wrong way to make it 1-0.

Five minutes later Ajax were awarded another penalty, this time for a handball in the box, and Schone once again slotted the ball into the corner.

Heerenveen improved after the break, and Hakim Ziyech came close to reducing the deficit with a long range free-kick which flew just wide.

Ajax sealed the three points with eight minutes to go, and it was Schone again who netted with a cool finish inside the box to complete his hat-trick.

Frank de Boers side are now four points clear of Twente, and a further seven ahead of third place Feyenoord with ten games to go.
