Ajax made it two wins in two as another double from Anwar El Ghazi saw them see off Willem II 3-0 in the Amsterdam Arena.

milik willAjax broke the deadlock on 18 minutes as a sloppy clearance by Stijn Wuytens was picked upon by Nemanja Gudelj in the midfield, which led to Davy Klaassen crossing in for Arkaduisz Milik to head past Kostas Lamprou from close range.

However that was the highlight for Ajax in the first half as they sloppily gave the ball away time after time, and Willem II should have been level going into the break, but Wuytens saw a header rebound back off the crossbar

Early in the second half the returning Richairo Zivkovic was played through on the Ajax goal, but the striker took too much time to take a shot and Jairo Riedewald got back to make a block. Fellow Ajax loanee Lesley de Sa then saw a shot just tipped over the bar as the away side caused problems.

Anwar El Ghazi had a frustrating first half, but after seeing a close range shot strike the post, the winger made it 2-0 with a clinical finish into the top corner from the edge of the box.

Frank de Boer handed 17-year-old Vaclav Cerny his debut late on, and the winger played his part in the third goal as a swift counter attack finished with El Ghazi’s shot squirming through the hand of Lamprou and into the net. El Ghazi now has four goals in his opening two Eredivisie games.

The win keeps Ajax top of the table, while Jurgen Streppel’s Willem II suffer their first defeat of the season.
