duarte fkdFrank de Boer’s side were easily beaten 3-0 on Thursday by Austrian side Salzburg, but started the match against AZ clearly hoping to prove their doubters wrong.

Siem de Jong got the champions off to a perfect start as he finished into the bottom corner following a good run and cross by Ricardo van Rhijn.

Ajax continued to create a number of chances, but had to wait until the 54th minute to find a 2nd as Lerin Duarte finished off from De Jong’s delightful back heel.

Ricardo Kishna, who was making his Eredivisie debut, netted the third on the hour mark with a stunning finish into the top corner after storming into the box.

With 15 minutes to go, Lerin Duarte sealed the three points with his second and Ajax’s 4th with a powerful drive from the left hand side of the box which gave Esteban no chance.

AZ were over run by Ajax, and the scoreline could have easily been 6’s or 7’s. The win moves Ajax seven points clear at the top before 2nd place Twente host 3rd place Feyenoord later on Sunday.
