Ajax kept up the pressure on league leaders PSV Eindhoven as they comfortably saw off 10-man Dordrecht 4-0 at the Amsterdam Arena.

ajaschoenThe visitors nearly shocked the Amsterdam Arena in the first minute when Joris van Overheem was found unmarked on the edge of the area, but the midfielder could only shoot straight at Jasper Cillessen.

Ajax then took control, but it wasn’t until the 21st minute that the deadlock was broken, with the impressive Anwar El Ghazi bursting through the Dordrecht back-line before squaring for Lasse Schone to tap in from close range.

Frank de Boer’s side wasted several chances to double their lead, with Davy Klaassen firing over from the edge of the box, and goalkeeper Filip Kurto denying El Ghazi one on-one early in the second half.¬†However on 63 minutes Dordrecht were reduced to ten men when Lima was shown his second yellow card, and two minutes later Schone netted his second of the game with an excellent free kick which flew into the top corner.

Joel Veltman showed great attacking intent to latch onto a Davy Klaassen through ball before brilliantly chipping the ball over Kurto to make it 3-0. The win was then sealed when Lucas Andersen swept the ball into the net with 15 minutes to go.

The win moves Ajax one point behind PSV, who play ADO Den Haag later on Saturday, while Dordrecht’s winless streak stretches to 10 games, and they sit 17th.
