A hat-trick by Kasper Dolberg inspired Ajax to a 5-0 win over NEC Nijmegen in the Amsterdam Arena.

dolberg-djdjdEarlier this week, Ajax director Marc Overmars had to warn interested clubs that Dolberg would not be sold in the January transfer window, and the young Dane proved why he is so sought after with a first-half hat-trick on Sunday.

On nineteen minutes, Dolberg played a one-two with Lasse Schone before dribbling past three defenders and smashing a strike high into the net. After Andre Onana denied Kevin Mayi the equaliser, Ajax netted their second with Hakim Ziyech combining with Davy Klaassen on the right and the captains cross was guided into the net by Dolberg. Ten minutes before the break, the 19-year-old completed his hat-trick with a backwards header from Daley Sinkgraven’s cross.

Ten minutes into the second half, Bertrand Traore raced into the NEC box before slotting his strike into the bottom corner to make it 4-0 and moments later Schone sealed the 5-0 victory with a fantastic curling strike into the top corner from just outside the box.

The victory keeps Ajax in touching distance with Feyenoord in second, while NEC drop to 15th.
