Ajax put their De Klassieker defeat behind them on Saturday as they eased to a 6-0 victory over VVV Venlo.

Ajax welcomed back Nicolas Tagliafico, who missed the 6-2 hammering by Feyenoord last week, while Rasmus Kristensen replaced the injured Noussair Mazraoui.

The hosts dominated from the start but they struggled to find a breakthrough until the 35th minute. Hakim Ziyech broke the deadlock with a lovely free-kick.

Seven minutes into the second half it was 2-0 when Donny van de Beek crossed for Kasper Dolberg to volley into the top corner from close range. Moments later, Kristensen’s shot was parried into the path of Dusan Tadic who slid in to make it 3-0.

With five minutes left, David Neres added a fourth after racing onto an excellent Ziyech through ball. Neres then set up Klaas-Jan Huntelaar for a tap-in before van de Beek curled in a sixth in the final minute.

The victory puts Ajax back to within two points of PSV, who face Fortuna Sittard on Sunday.
