De Telegraaf reported this morning that Ajax and Groningen agreed a fee of €2.5 million for the 17-year-old, with a 10% sell on clause also added.
Groningen director Hans Nijland then confirmed the talks, but not that a deal had been agreed, telling RTV Noord, “The negotiations are still ongoing, so I can not say so much about it.”
Zivkovic is one of the most highly rated talents in the Eredivisie, and has been watched by scouts from major clubs such as Liverpool, Barcelona, and Manchester City.
However it appears that Ajax have now won the race for the striker, with personal terms believed not to be an issue, and the deal should be confirmed soon.
The forward has started five Eredivisie matches so far this season, whilst appearing a further 15 times from the bench, scoring five goals. Although eligible to represent Serbia, Zivkovic is a Netherlands U-19’s regular, and pledged his allegiance to the Oranje earlier in the season.
