With PSV Eindhoven set to nick the Eredivisie title from Ajax this season the Amsterdam club have already began their planning for next summer, with the signing of midfielder Nemanja Gudelj reportedly their first priority.
According to De Telegraaf, Ajax are set to activate the Serbian’s release clause from AZ, believed to be €6 million, and have a five-year contract ready for Gudelj to sign.
However AZ director Earnest Stewart told Voetbal International that they are yet to hear from Ajax, “It’s very simple. Ajax has not contacted us.”
“I read that he has signed for five years, but I think he still has an ongoing contract for two years.”
“In the last conversation I had with him, I got the impression that he preferred to take his next step abroad”
Speaking to AD, Gudelj also denied any deal, “I know that there is interest from clubs, but I concentrate on the rest of the season. I do not want to talk about a transfer because there is no transfer.”
Gudelj joined AZ from NAC Breda in 2013, and has since made 61 league appearances for the club, scoring 15 goals. The midfielder also has 15 caps for the Serbian national team.
