Ajax stayed five points behind leaders PSV Eindhoven after easing to a 4-0 win at Heerenveen.

Ajax boss Erik ten Hag was forced into two changes for the clash with Noussair Mazraoui and Nicolas Tagliafico injured during the international break. Rasmus Kristensen started at right-back, while Daley Blind was shifted to the left.

The visitors made a quick start in Friesland and were ahead in the third minute with Lasse Schone curling an excellent strike from distance into the top corner.

Heerenveen came into the game and were dangerous through Sam Lammers and Arber Zeneli but Andre Onana kept the hosts at bay. Just before the break, Ajax doubled their lead. Frenkie de Jong’s shot was kept out by Warner Hahn, but he had no answer to Hakim Ziyech’s strike on the rebound.

Seven minutes after the break, Ajax were awarded a penalty when Kasper Dolberg went down under the challenge of Daniel Høegh. Dusan Tadic made no mistake from the spot. Four minutes later, it was 4-0 with Kristensen crossing for Dolberg to flick the ball past Hahn from close range.

Ajax came close to adding further goals with substitute Klaas-Jan Huntelaar hitting the woodwork but the match remained 4-0.

The victory means Ajax remain second and five points off PSV, while Heerenveen are 12th.
