Ajax head into the international break comfortably top of the Eredivisie after a 4-0 win over Utrecht.

Ajax went into the clash against an in-form Utrecht, who battered Fortuna Sittard 6-0 last week, without David Neres. Zakaria Labyad came into the line-up for his first minutes of the campaign.

Utrecht got a big chance early on through Gyrano Kerk but in the 14th minute, Dusan Tadic crossed for Donny van de Beek to volley Ajax ahead.

Ten minutes later, Ajax doubled their lead when Quincy Promes burst into the box before sending a cross to Tadic, who found the net from close range.

Utrecht lost Bart Ramselaar to injury and five minutes before the break they were 3-0 down. A lovely team move ended with Labyad setting up Van de Beek to curl a great strike into the bottom corner from just outside the box.

Ajax went searching for more goals in the second half but Maarten Paes made several great saves to deny the hosts. Eventually, in the 64th minute, Lisandro Martinez headed in a corner to make it 4-0.

From that point, Ajax eased through the final 25 minutes and they go into the international break at least six points clear at the top. Utrecht stay 4th.
