Ajax put their Champions League woes behind them to see off Go Ahead Eagles 3-0 in Deventer with Davy Klaassen netting a double.

klaas jjAfter being humiliated by Rostov in Russia, Peter Bosz rung the changes with Anwar El Ghazi, Riechedly Bazoer and Kenny Tete all dropped to the bench. Davinson Sánchez kept his place in the defence, but after 20 minutes his error handed Go Ahead Eagles the chance to take the lead after he brought down Marcel Ritzmaier in the box. Leon de Kogel took the penalty but André Onana proved himself as a worthy Jasper Cillessen replacement by pushing the spot kick away.

Three minutes later Ajax took the lead as Davy Klaassen outwitted Go Ahead goalkeeper Theo Zwarthoed with a strike from just outside the box. On 34 minutes Klaassen netted his second of the game from the penalty spot after Bertrand Traore was floored.

In the second half Nemanja Gudelj sealed the victory for Ajax with a lovely free kick. The Serbian could have netted again before the end but he saw an effort come back off the crossbar.

The three points lifts Ajax up to 4th while Go Ahead Eagles are down in 16th.
