ajax fansAjax fans wanted to travel to Eindhoven by bus, after trains were cancelled due to engineer works, but this plan was rejected by the Eindhoven Mayor, Rob van Gijzel.

Gijzel feared that allowing the Ajax fans to travel by coach would end in violence by the two sets of supporters, and the Amsterdam club today lost their battle in court.

A statement by Ajax read, “We are disappointed because the club think it important that its fans can attend all away matches.”

The two title favourites lock horns on Sunday at 3.30pm uk time, and the banning of any away fans will no doubt help the home side, as they seek revenge for their defeat the last time they met.

Last season with the title race going to the wire by the two clubs, Ajax managed to triumph 3-2 in the Philips Stadion before going on to finish top of the table.
