Ajax managing director Marc Overmars has confirmed the club are seriously interested in signing striker and free agent Samuel Eto’o.

The 33-year-old Cameroonian has been without a club since leaving Chelsea at the end of last season, and has recently been linked with Premier League side Sunderland.
However Ajax director Marc Overmars told Voetbal International that he has held talks with the former Barcelona, and Inter Milan star in Paris, and seems confident of striking a deal.
Overmars said, “Samuel seemed very hungry to play for Ajax. He is fit and has a great drive to succeed once again,”
“We don’t want to block the growing process of our talents like Milik and Zivkovic, but if it is possible to sign a world class player like Eto’o, then why not? It will be fantastic.”
