Ryan Babel’s agent has confirmed to Voetbal International that Ajax are in negotiations with Galatasaray over a loan deal for the forward.

Ajax had an injury crisis up front before the winter break with David Neres, Quincy Promes and Zakaria Labyad all suffering issues.

Erik ten Hag wants more options for the second half of the campaign, and Babel’s agent Winnie Haatrecht has told VI that negotiations are underway to take his client to Amsterdam for the third time.

The 33-year-old played for Ajax between 2004 and 2007 before he returned for the 2012/13 season.

Last summer, Babel joined Galatasaray and he has a contract in Istanbul until 2022. A deal is said to be not a forgone conclusion but Babel is keen on the loan in order to maintain his place in Ronald Koeman’s Oranje squad for the European Championships.
