The 17 year old has played a crucial part in Groningens season having featured in 20 games in which he has contributed 5 goals respectively. The Dutch footballer of Serbian descent has been dubbed the next Arjen Robben by the media due to his impressive performances for Groningen and for the National u-19’s team where he has hit the back of the net twice in three games.
However the Amsterdammers are not the only club to publicly express interest in the young forward, with teams such as Liverpool and Barcelona already keeping their tabs on the Eredivisie starlet. Zivkovic is currently tied at the club until 2016 but Groningen will be eager for him to sign a new contract to keep him away from Europe’s finest for a few more years.
“Živković is an interesting player that we are indeed following” Overmars said when speaking to Voetbal International.
He then added “Dutch players are our preference if we look for possible reinforcements.”
“During the Eredivisie you see a handful of players emerge and Živković is one of them”
Živković is a real talent that is a constant threat to the opposition, with his quick feet, flair and change of pace he strikes fear into the legs of any defender. The forward also possesses an eye for goal and he has the ability to play on the wing or through the middle.
Groningen have discovered a true gem in Richario Živković and the Eredivisie is the perfect place for any young upcoming talent to ply his trade in,but a move to Ajax could well be a possibility.
