The game was once again played with no Ajax fans present and the home crowd protested this before the match began.
Ajax went into the clash full of confidence after their 3-0 win at Valencia in midweek. After 10 minutes, Hakim Ziyech burst through the ADO defence before setting up Klaas Jan Huntelaar to fire in the opening goal.
The match was end to end after the opener with Michiel Kramer getting a great chance to equalise for the hosts but he was denied by Andre Onana. At the other end, Ziyech remained a constant threat and the midfielder hit the post from close range.
Five minutes before the break, Crysencio Summerville rounded Onana after a swift ADO attack but the on-loan Feyenoord attacker could only send his finish into the side netting. Just before the break, Quincy Promes should have made it 2-0 after a great cross by Nicolas Tagliafico but the winger put his effort wide of the post.
The second half was less entertaining than the first but the game remained open before David Neres eventually made it 2-0 late on after a swift counter attack.
Ajax remains top heading into the international break while ADO Den Haag are 16th.
What a gift that continues to give is Huntelaar! Though not the first choice always anymore- They can always count on him- He is a constant threat that allows Ajax to continue winning while giving a few players rest in a team that has players playing Eredivisie, Champions League and on the International squad or thier frespective club.
Lets hear it for one of the best Dutch players of all-time that keeps contributing.
