Andre Onana 7/10: Had to deal with some difficult lofted pass backs but did it with ease, and was comfortable throughout the game. Made the saves he had to and almost got to the penalty.
Noussair Mazraoui 6.5/10: Good going forward throughout and took his goal very well. However defensively had trouble against Midtjylland’s attack and gave away the penalty after being bamboozled by some stepovers.
Nicolas Tagliafico 7/10: Looked visibly upset before the game due to the news about Maradona. However, when the game got going he kept Midtjylland danger man Anders Dreyer quiet the whole game
Perr Schuurs 7.5/10: A very convincing performance from the centre-back, who had some troubles in Denmark. Defensively solid. Would have been rated higher if he did a bit more while in possession of the ball.
Daley Blind 6.5/10: Positioned almost as a midfielder at times in the first half, Blind was able to dictate play but after the break he went down with a hamstring injury. Ajax will be hoping it isn’t too serious.
Davy Klaassen 5/10: Was clearly not at his best and that was due to his fitness. Probably shouldn’t have started and was a bit of a passenger at times before he was substituted.
Ryan Gravenberch 8.5/10: What a player this young man could become. Technically brilliant, great in defence and scored the opening goal with a stunning strike. Dominated the midfielder for Ajax at the age of 18.
Zakaria Labyad 5.5/10: Labyad was given a chance after his great performance against Heracles. However, he could not match this level. He got into the right positions but his finishing or final product was poor. Also looked painfully slow when played in on goal.
David Neres 8/10: The livewire of the Ajax attack. He set up Labyad for a guilt edge chance early on and tormented the Midtjylland defence with his pace. His goal in the second half was reward for a great performance.
Dusan Tadic 7.5/10: When Ajax needed a spark, Tadic provided it early in the second half with two assists. Not his best game in the Champions League but he was still crucial.
Lassina Traore 5.5/10: Had to score at least twice in the first half with the chances he got but his finishing was poor. His strength was key to the Neres goal but he struggled to get involved at times.
Substitutes
Lisandro Martinez 6/10: Came on for Blind and did well at the back and even went close to scoring with a long-range strike.
Edson Alvarez 5.5/10: Came on for Klaassen and didn’t make much of an impression on the pitch.
