Zakaria Labyad netted a hattrick as Ajax hammered Utrecht 5-1 in a pre-season friendly in Amsterdam.

Ajax kicked off their pre-season with a 6-1 win over RKC Waalwijk at the weekend and this time welcomed Utrecht to the Johan Cruijff ArenA, which welcomed back some fans.

After only four minutes, Ajax had the lead with Labyad tapping into the net after Ryan Gravenberch had hit the post. Utrecht could have equalised straight away when Noussair Mazraoui gave away a penalty for a foul on Bart Ramselaar but Simon Gustafson hit the post from the spot.

Ajax then doubled their lead when Noa Lang finished off a pass from Antony. Nicolas Tagliafico then made it 3-0 before Labyad made it 4-0 with a wonderful free-kick. Deep into first-half injury time, Labyad completed his hattrick.

In the second half, Ajax failed to add to the goals, but Utrecht did pull one back through Othmane Boussaid. Nick Venema could have made it 5-2 but the striker was denied by Maarten Stekelenburg.
