Ajax followed up their draw with Bayern Munich by hammering AZ Alkmaar 5-0 in the Johan Cruijff ArenA.

After the 1-1 draw in Munich, Erik ten Hag made one change to his eleven with Kasper Dolberg making his first start in the place of David Neres. For AZ, John van den Brom started with Teun Koopmeiners and Ricardo van Rhijn in the centre of defence, while Marko Vejinovic made his first start.

After only three minutes, Ajax were ahead with Dusan Tadic sending Donny van de Beek in on goal and the midfielder fired past Marco Bizot.

The hosts remained firmly in control but had to wait until the 48th minute to double their lead. Hakim Ziyech’s strike was parried by Bizot and Dolberg followed up to net. Four minutes later it was 3-0 as Daley Blind’s strike took a wicked deflection off of Van Rhijn before flying into the net.

Defensively AZ was all over the place and after being spared a penalty by VAR, Ziyech added a fourth on the hour mark with a fine run into the box before striking low past Bizot. Tadic then sealed the comprehensive victory with a fine finish from close range after a sweeping team move.

The victory keeps Ajax in second place heading into the international break while AZ are now sixth.
