Labyad has reached an agreement with Ajax over a four-year contract and secretly underwent a medical examination on Tuesday. Ajax will pay up to €7 million plus bonuses to Utrecht.

The midfielder will join up with his new club after Utrecht’s season is over. They face Heerenveen in the first round of the European playoffs.

The former PSV, Sporting Lisbon and Vitesse midfielder will be reunited with Erik Ten Hag, who was the man who brought Labyad to Utrecht.

The 25-year-old has scored 14 goals and contributed 11 assists so far this season.

He will be their third summer recruit after Hassane Bande and Perr Schuurs. Ajax are still hopeful to sign Southampton’s Dusan Tadic, while Argentinian defender Lisandro Magallan is another target.
