Sergino Dest has returned home from Ajax’s training camp in Qatar for political reasons.

The 19-year-old recently decided to represent the US men’s national team over the Netherlands.
Dest was part of the Ajax squad that travelled to Qatar for a training camp but the tensions between the USA and Iran has made the youngster fell uncomfortable and he has been allowed to return home.
A statement on the Ajax website read, “Sergino Dest has asked if he could leave Ajax’s training camp in Qatar. He didn’t feel comfortable. Ajax understands his request and has responded to it.”
The USA recently ordered an air strike on Iran that killed Iranian military commander Qasem Soleimani. Iran retaliated by firing missiles towards a US air base in Iraq.
The US Men’s national team was due to have a training camp in Qatar, who will host the 2022 World Cup, but that was cancelled on Saturday.
Dest will instead train with Jong Ajax’s squad ahead of the second half of the season.
