Dijks left Ajax last summer after failing to break into the first team, but Willem II have confirmed that the left back has returned to Amsterdam a year later after impressing this season. The 24-year-old has turned down reported interest from German side Hertha Berlin, Celtic and AZ Alkmaar to return to the Amsterdam Arena.
However Willem II have also confirmed that three youngsters from Ajax will move the other way and spend the season on loan with the Tilburg side. Right back Ruben Ligeon (23), winger Lesley de Sa (22), and striker Richairo Zivkovic (18) have all joined up with Willem II.
Willem II director Carlos Aalbers said on the deal, “It was a long process but a good result for us where we could find a good balance in the sporting and financial interests for Willem II,”
“We are very pleased that we can add these three players to the squad and Mitchell Dijks has used our platform to again to take the next step in his career. We wish Mitchell success.”
