Ajax right back Ricardo van Rhijn has played down suggestions he could be about to move to Premier League side Everton this winter.

van rhijn aVan Rhijn has been one of the standout players in Frank de Boer’s Ajax side this season, and has gained a number of admirers from around Europe.

Recent speculation has suggested Everton could be about to move for the Dutchman this winter, but Van Rhijn insists he is happy to stay with the Eredivisie champions.

He told Dutch TV station AT5, “It’s everywhere in the news. It would be nice if they are interested, but for now I am happy here in Amsterdam.”

The 22-year-old has been first choice in Amsterdam since Gregory van der Wiel left Ajax for PSG, and has gone on to earn seven caps for the Netherlands national team.

Van Rhijn has a contract with Ajax until the summer of 2015
