The 21-year-old’s deal with Ajax expired this summer, allowing the winger to leave on a free transfer. AZ confirmed his arrival on Tuesday, with Dekker penning a contract until 2020 with an option for another season.

AZ director Max Huiberts told the club’s website, “We are pleased that we have once again been able to bind a talented player to us. As a footballer, Gino can be a good fit with AZ, a real old-fashioned left winger, and we now give him the chance to develop further at Jong AZ and then make the first step.”

Dekker struggled with injuries this season and only made four appearances for Jong Ajax. Last season he made eleven Eerste Divisie appearances, scoring three goals and contributing three assists.
