Germany v Serbia - UEFA Under21 European Championship 2015

De Telegraaf and Voetbal International are reporting a deal is close to being agreed, with Younes likely to join the Amsterdam outfit on a three year deal. He would be the fourth signing of the summer after the arrivals of Mitchell Dijks, Nemanja Gudelj, and John Heitinga.

The small, technical player spent last season on loan at 2. Bundesliga side Kaiserslautern after struggling to break into the Mönchengladbach first team. Chances were few and far between there too though and he started just seven league games for the club.

Despite that, he has been a firm fixture of Horst Hrubesch’s under 21 side. Operating primarily as a winger, Younes started each of Germany’s four matches in the recent Under 21 European Championships, but couldn’t prevent his side plummeting to a 5-0 Semi-Final defeat against Portugal.

Frank de Boer had used the tournament in the Czech Republic as a chance to scout some of the continents brightest talent and was clearly impressed by the Germans lively displays.

It would seem de Boer would like to strengthen his attacking options by adding a wide man to his squad with Denmark’s Pione Sisto also under consideration. However Sisto’s value has risen considerably after his Midtjylland side won the Danish Superliga last month. Younes only has one year left on his current deal at Mönchengladbach and given the lack of first team opportunities, he will probably be a cheaper option.
