Ajax head coach Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Antony will miss the Champions League game against Liverpool on Wednesday.

Antony has scored three goals in five games so far this season, but he will not be able to make his Champions League debut on Wednesday.

Speaking at his pre-game press conference, Ten Hag confirmed that the Brazilian winger was not fit enough to face Premier League champions Liverpool.

Ten Hag said, “The absence of Antony does not change our battle plan. You have to deal with setbacks, also tactically. We have a wide and good selection with other players who can also play there.”

Ten Hag would not say specifically what was wrong with Antony, “Whether he’s infected with corona? We never make any statements about that.”
