Mathias Pogba scored the only goal of the game and afterwards, Pastoor stated how he made it clear to his players before kick-off how long the fans of Sparta have looked forward to this game and longed for a victory.
Pastoor said, ”This appears to be the game of the season for us in terms of a victory. The supporters of Sparta are delighted with the result. We are aware of the sentiment this game evokes from the fans. I deliberately told my players that Sparta supporters have looked forward to this match for 6 years.
”We came flying out of the blocks from minute one literally. In most cases. you must do we the game asks of you and that is not always easy especially with the euphoria of the game. We also have players that are relatively new to the Eredivisie and we had to keep attacking even after going 1-0 up and I feel that we coped well.
”We have a certain theory which involves bringing players into the starting lineup when the have the chance to be successful. In the case of Mathias Pogba today it was his first time in the starting lineup and he has worked really hard to get himself into that position.
”We showed not just today but also last week away at NEC Nijmegen that we can get results and that players have done that with a lot of effort and passion.
”I am absolutely delighted to win against Feyenoord today and especially the manner upon which we achieved it ”.
