The former Excelsior coach has signed a deal with ADO Den Haag until the end of the current season with an option of an extra 2-year extension.

He told NOS, ”Naturally I have kept an eye on the recent goings-on at ADO Den Haag behind the scenes. I believe that we can concentrate on the football with the players we have in the squad. I will do everything I can to keep this club in the Eredivisie. We will see at the end of the season if there is enough support to continue with each other in the future. We can only evaluate that at the end of the season.

”At everywhere club where you become a manager there is always something going in behind the scenes in that respect. I received confirmation yesterday about the interest from ADO Den Haag. I was here last Friday for the game against Vitesse covering as an analyst for Fox Sports. I saw that the team works hard and that they are prepared to work hard but that they are also suffering from a lack of confidence, That’s logical due to the fact that they have lost 14 of their last 17 matches even after a good start to the season.

”There are enough possibilities here at ADO Den Haag and we have to get the confidence back in the team. I would of course prefer to be managing a team higher up in the league because that it nicer. Relegation football is not the nicest football but often exciting with the pressures involved. But I was pleased to be asked by ADO Den Haag to become their manager it’s a really great club.

”During my playing career I had a great time here and I believe that together with the supporters we will work together to help ADO Den Haag move forward.”
