Anderlecht confirmed on Tuesday morning that they had parted ways with Rutten on mutual terms.
A statement on the website read, “After three days of consultation between sporting management and coach, Fred Rutten has decided that he does not want to be part of RSC Anderlecht’s sporting plan next season.
“Since he wants to give the sporting staff every opportunity to optimally prepare for the future, both parties have agreed to immediately stop cooperation.”
Rutten was appointed Anderlecht coach on the 6th of January but the 56-year-old has only managed five wins in his tenure and the club are at risk of missing out on European football for the first time in 55 years.
