Ajax’s painful defeat in Eindhoven sealed the Eredivisie title for their rivals and on return to the Amsterdam Arena the player’s bus was halted by a large group of angry fans. Police were present but could not prevent the bus from being stopped.

According to VI, the fans demanded to speak with CEO Edwin van der Sar, who stepped out to try and calm the situation. His resignation was demanded by the supporters, but Van der Sar stated that was not possible. Erik ten Hag and even some of the players also spoke with the supporters outside the bus.

Some fans managed to get onto the bus which left the players visibly shaken and amazed that the police didn’t intervene. No arrests were made.

According to De Telegraaf, the fans, who shouted “Ajax is no longer Ajax” also demanded that Hakim Ziyech never represents the club again. The Moroccan has been a key player for the club this season but has a tense relationship with some of the supporters.
