Ajax began their pre-season with a comfortable 6-1 win over RKC Waalwijk. New signing Antony made a big impression in the second half.

Erik ten Hag insisted before the game that Andre Onana and Sergino Dest were missing due to minor injuries and not an impending transfer. Maarten Stekelenburg started in goal.

The first half saw Ajax dominate and eventually take the lead through Lassina Traore in the 20th minute. The striker finished after good work by Quincy Promes and Dusan Tadic.

Ajax made several changes for the second half including an unofficial debut for new signing Antony. Two minutes after the break, Klaas Jan Huntelaar scored to make it 2-0.

Jurgen Ekkelenkamp then headed in a third before Antony netted a fourth after a swift counter.

Teun van Grunsven pulled one back for RKC Waalwijk but Antony made it 5-1 before Huntelaar finished off the match with an excellent strike to make it 6-1 in the end.

Ajax begin their pre-season in style and will face Utrecht in five days.
